Study Trip to Budapest
4–7 May 2026
Report
On the 4th of May, at 5:00 a.m., our study trip began, with Budapest as its destination, specifically the Faculty of Public Health Administration of Semmelweis University.
The students of the Health Promotion College for Advanced Studies, first-year students of Public Health Services and Policies (13 participants), joined the informatics students and traveled by bus. Our accompanying staff members were assistant lecturer Jánosi-Rancz Katalin-Tünde PhD and laboratory technician Lukács Ibolya (Department of Mathematics and Informatics). The group was also accompanied by PhD student Kozomos Emőke from the University of Public Service.
On the first day, after checking into our accommodation, we explored the surroundings of the dormitory (Nagytétényi Road), as well as Gellért Hill together with the Citadel. Our wonderful excursions included walks of more than 10 kilometers.
On the second day, the focus shifted to professional activities. The entire group arrived in the morning at the Health Services Management Training Center of Semmelweis University. Our colleagues from Budapest, Anna Kozák and Gergely Mikesy warmly welcomed the Sapientia team. After introductions and enjoying morning coffee and tea, the professional program took center stage. The instructors prepared interactive sessions for us, presenting both the international and domestic aspects of the curriculum in an inspiring manner.
The topics covered on the 5th of May included:
• Organization and organizational theory (macro foundations)
• Definition of an organization: goals, structure, people, processes
• Project: definition and life cycle (initiation, planning, implementation, closure)
• Fundamentals and tools of project management
• Individual/Leader (micro-focus: motivation and skills)
• Motivation theories
• Leadership roles and soft skills
• Managerial/organizational well-being and burnout
After gaining a wealth of useful information, we spent the afternoon and evening exploring Budapest, one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe and the world.
During the second workday, we became acquainted with the following scientific interpretations and research areas:
• Business economics: basic concepts and system overview
• Tools and analyses
• Application and strategy
• Change management (focus on integrated application)
Early in the morning of the 7th of May, together with the informatics students we departed for home, to Transylvania. Our informatics colleagues organized a short detour to the Crystal Cave in Vadu Crișului. With the guidance of a tour guide, we admired the breathtaking places located in our immediate surroundings, close to our homes.
Later that evening, at 7:00 p.m., we arrived back at the Sapientia University parking lot, where, enriched with many wonderful experiences and professional development, we said goodbye to one another. Most of us were already excitedly preparing for the 25th Scientific Students’ Conference, which was to be held the following day.
The study visit was supported by the Makovecz student scholarship program and the National Cultural Grant Management Office, project ID NTP-SZKOLL-25-0075.
